Two reviews of the latest issue of Birkensnake 2 were posted recently. John Madera wrote of issue 2: “It’s a lovely object that was both blowtorch-singed, and sprayed, I think, with some kind of toxic (is there any other kind?) fixative.” Madera has a response for each story. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a mag where someone has taken the time to think about the whole thing. … Seattle’s great book blog, Rat’s Reading, also responds to the whole issue, and also notes the cover: “Kind of a fuzzy feel with rough hard lines. Also, each cover is unique; they’ve hand-singed them so they are all slightly different. Hand-singed, not hand-signed.” The issue can be had for just 4 bucks.
